Description

The Lucidra is a 30cm white opal globe pendant with an IP44 rating, built for outdoor installation under covered areas such as porches, pergolas, balconies and carports. The spherical opal plastic diffuser surrounds a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately), spreading light evenly in all directions without glare or hot spots.

Designed for outdoor covered zones where protection from rain splashes and dust is required but full weatherproofing is not needed, the IP44 rating means the pendant can handle water spray from any direction but should not be exposed to direct rain or submersion. Typical installations include entrance canopies, covered outdoor dining areas, and garden room ceilings with overhead shelter. The 900mm cable allows the pendant to be positioned at different heights depending on ceiling clearance and the intended lighting zone.

The aluminium suspension base provides corrosion resistance in outdoor environments, while the opal plastic diffuser is impact-resistant and lighter than glass equivalents. The 30cm diameter suits smaller covered outdoor areas or can be grouped in multiples to light larger pergola spaces. The pendant accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to the rated wattage and is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and bulb combination.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Lucidra can be installed under covered outdoor areas such as porches, pergolas and carports, but should not be exposed to direct rain or full weather exposure. It is not suitable for fully open outdoor locations without overhead shelter.

What bulb does it take and is one included?

The pendant takes a standard E27 bulb up to the rated wattage shown in the specification. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use, most customers choose a warm-white LED bulb between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for ambient light.

Can the cable length be adjusted?

The 900mm cable is supplied at a fixed length. During installation the cable can be shortened inside the canopy if a shorter drop is needed, or coiled within the ceiling void if excess length is not required.

Is it suitable for coastal or high-humidity environments?

The aluminium suspension base offers corrosion resistance, making it more suitable for coastal environments than steel alternatives. However, IP44 is a basic splash-proof rating, and in very high-salt coastal areas or environments with persistent humidity, regular inspection of the fittings and connections is recommended to maintain safe operation.
