Description
The Livingston is a 356mm outdoor wall lantern built around a composite frame finished in Imperial Bronze, with four panels of clear seeded glass enclosing two E14 bulb positions. The tiered roof, fluted detailing at the top and base, and stepped platform give the fitting a traditional coastal lantern profile that references American Colonial and early 20th-century porch lighting.
Designed for external use on entrance porches, garage door surrounds, and covered patio areas, the lantern carries an IP44 rating for protection against splashing water from any direction. The composite construction is lighter than cast aluminium and resists corrosion in UK coastal environments without the regular maintenance of ferrous metals. The 169mm projection from the wall positions the lantern forward of most external cladding and rainwater goods, giving clearance for guttering and avoiding shadow-trapping against the wall.
The seeded glass is cast with small bubbles and surface texture that diffuses the filament or LED source inside, softening hard shadows and reducing glare when viewed directly from below or across a driveway. The Imperial Bronze finish is a brown-toned bronze with darker antiquing in the recesses of the fluted details, which reduces reflectivity in strong daylight and pairs with traditional red brick, timber cladding, and stone surrounds. The lantern accepts two E14 candle bulbs up to 40W each (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and light output.

Frequently Asked
Can this lantern be used in exposed coastal locations?
Yes. The composite construction resists salt corrosion and the IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing. The lantern is designed for covered positions under eaves or porch roofs rather than fully unsheltered walls directly exposed to driving rain.
What bulbs does it take?
The lantern takes two E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional glow through the seeded glass.
How is it mounted to the wall?
The fitting mounts to a standard external wall box via a rear backplate. The 169mm projection includes the mounting plate, glass body and roof assembly. Suitable fixings for brick, stone or timber are required but not supplied.
Does the seeded glass need cleaning?
The textured surface can collect dust and watermarks over time. Wipe gently with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent solution, then rinse with clean water. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the seeded texture.
