Description

The Linear is a 300mm surface-mounted LED track light with an integrated 6W 3000K LED housed in an extruded aluminium profile finished in black with a white diffuser strip. The track accepts magnetically-fixed lighting elements that slide along the rail and lock into position, allowing multiple heads to be added or repositioned without tools once the base track is installed.

Designed for corridors, home offices, retail environments and gallery spaces needing directional or accent lighting, the 300mm base track can be surface-mounted to ceilings or walls, or recessed into plasterboard on installations where flush mounting is preferred. The 15mm projection from the surface when surface-mounted makes it suitable for low ceilings where bulkier track systems would intrude. The dimmable LED output allows light levels to be adjusted for task work, ambient lighting or display purposes depending on time of day and activity.

The extruded aluminium profile runs the full 300mm length and acts as both structural support and heat sink for the LED module. The black upper casing contrasts with the white diffuser strip, which softens the LED output and reduces glare when the light is viewed from below. The magnetic fixing system means individual track heads can be removed for redecorating or replaced if damaged without needing to rewire the entire track. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor environments only.

The 6W LED module is integrated into the track profile. It is not user-replaceable. The LED has a rated lifespan of approximately 30,000 hours under normal operating conditions, which equates to around 10 years of typical residential use.

Can multiple tracks be joined end-to-end?

This 300mm track is supplied as a single unit. Ideal Lux may offer connectors or longer track sections in the Linear range — contact us to confirm compatibility if you need to create a longer continuous run.

What dimmer switches does it work with?

The Linear is rated as dimmable. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model. Trailing-edge LED-compatible dimmers typically perform better than leading-edge dimmers with integrated LED fittings. Test compatibility before final installation or contact us for dimmer recommendations.

Can it be recessed into plasterboard?

Yes. The track can be surface-mounted or recessed into a plasterboard ceiling, allowing it to sit flush with the ceiling surface. Recessed installation requires a cut-out to accommodate the track body and adequate depth behind the plasterboard for the fixing clips and wiring.
