Description

The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 5ft (1563mm) non-corrosive batten with dual wattage output selectable between 26W (4,045lm at 4000K) and 48W (7,250lm at 4000K) via internal switches. The fitting also allows colour temperature selection between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K daylight via a second internal switch, removing the need to stock multiple SKU variants for different CCT requirements.

Designed for commercial, industrial and outdoor applications where impact resistance and weatherproofing are required, the Torlan carries IP65 weatherproof and IK08 impact ratings. The polycarbonate housing resists corrosion in damp, coastal and chemically-exposed environments, while the opal polycarbonate diffuser is held in place by stainless steel clips rather than plastic tabs. The fitting can be surface-mounted to ceilings, walls or soffits, or suspension-mounted using an optional accessory kit.

The dual-wattage design consolidates what would traditionally require separate single and twin tube battens into one slimline 90mm × 90mm housing. At 26W the fitting delivers up to 155lm/W efficacy, reducing energy consumption in spaces requiring moderate illumination such as covered walkways, loading bays and storage areas. At 48W the output suits main production floors, warehouses and outdoor canopies where higher lumen density is needed. The 140° beam angle provides wide, even coverage without hot spots.

The integrated SMD LED light source is rated for 60,000 hours to L70B50 (the point at which 50% of fittings reach 70% of original lumen output), equating to approximately 13 years of continuous operation. CRI >85 ensures accurate colour rendering for inspection work and general task lighting. The constant-current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains with Class I earthing, and the fitting is not dimmable.

How do I change the wattage or colour temperature?

Two switches inside the fitting control wattage (26W or 48W) and CCT (3000K, 4000K or 5700K). The cover must be removed to access these switches. Set them before installation or during maintenance — they are not user-accessible once the fitting is mounted.

What does IP65 and IK08 mean?

IP65 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor and damp environments. IK08 means it can withstand impacts of up to 5 joules (equivalent to a 1.7kg mass dropped from 30cm), suitable for areas where accidental knocks may occur.

Can the batten be suspended rather than surface-mounted?

Yes, but suspension mounting requires an optional accessory kit sold separately. The batten ships with surface-mount fixings as standard.
