Description
The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 4ft LED batten fitting built from anti-corrosive polycarbonate with an IP65 weatherproof rating and an IK08 impact rating. The fitting houses integrated SMD LEDs with selectable colour temperature (3000K/4000K/5700K) and switchable wattage (19W or 37W), adjusted via internal switches before installation. A 3-hour self-test emergency module with LiFePO4 battery provides maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency operation.
Designed for commercial, industrial and outdoor applications where corrosion, impact and moisture are concerns, the Torlan suits car parks, loading bays, warehouses, cold stores, food preparation areas, exterior canopies and agricultural buildings. The polycarbonate body resists salt spray, ammonia and cleaning agents better than painted steel housings. The opal diffuser spreads light across a 115-degree beam, reducing harsh shadows in task areas. Surface mounting is standard; suspension mounting requires an accessory (sold separately).
The 19W setting delivers 3,015lm at 4000K (169.3 lm/W), suitable for walkways, storage areas and perimeter lighting. The 37W setting delivers 5,550lm at 4000K, providing task-level illumination for workbenches, loading zones and vehicle inspection areas. The CCT switch allows the colour temperature to be adjusted to match existing site lighting or to meet specific application requirements: 3000K for hospitality or residential-adjacent zones, 4000K for general commercial use, 5700K for high-detail work or colour-matching tasks.
Stainless steel diffuser clips secure the opal cover and resist corrosion in wet or chemically exposed environments. The Class I fitting requires a protective earth connection and operates on 230V 50Hz mains. The emergency module provides 340lm output in emergency mode with automatic self-testing, eliminating the need for manual lamp tests. The fitting carries a 5-year warranty excluding the battery, with an L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours (approximately 13.7 years at 12 hours daily operation).

Frequently Asked
How do I select the wattage and colour temperature?
The wattage (19W or 37W) and colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K) are selected via internal DIP switches before installation. The switches are accessible by removing the diffuser. Once set, the fitting operates at the selected settings until manually changed.
Can this be used outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets from any direction and dust ingress, making it suitable for exterior canopies, car parks, loading bays and other outdoor applications. The polycarbonate construction resists UV degradation and corrosion from moisture and salt spray.
What does the IK08 impact rating mean?
IK08 means the fitting can withstand an impact energy of 5 joules (equivalent to a 1.7kg mass dropped from 300mm). This makes it suitable for warehouses, workshops and public areas where accidental impacts from trolleys, ladders or equipment may occur.
How does the emergency function work?
The fitting includes a 3-hour self-test emergency module with a LiFePO4 battery. It can be wired for maintained (on constantly, including during mains failure), non-maintained (off normally, on during mains failure), or switched emergency operation. The module performs automatic self-tests to confirm battery and lamp function, eliminating manual testing requirements in most applications.
