Description
The Knightsbridge BATSCDAST5 is a 5ft (1525mm) LED batten fitting delivering 40W output through an integrated LED array with selectable colour temperature across 3000K, 4000K and 5700K. The fitting combines DALI control gear for integration into building management systems with a self-test emergency function that automatically tests battery backup duration and function on a programmed schedule. The white-finished pressed steel body houses the LED array behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser, providing 145° beam spread and even light distribution across the 5ft length.
Designed as a direct replacement for 5ft twin-tube fluorescent battens in commercial, education, retail and industrial environments, the fitting uses rear and end conduit fixing points that align with the mounting positions of legacy fluorescent fittings. Push-fit loop in-loop out terminals on a hinged gear tray allow daisy-chain wiring without junction boxes, reducing installation time and eliminating the need to open multiple fittings during cable runs. The self-test emergency function supports maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency modes, with 360 lumen output in emergency operation.
The DALI control gear allows the fitting to be integrated into room-level or networked building control systems for occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting and scheduled dimming. The fitting also supports push-dimming where connected to suitable push-button switches. The selectable CCT is adjusted via a switch on the driver before installation, allowing contractors to set the colour temperature to match existing lighting in the space. At 4000K the fitting delivers 5720 lumens at 143 lumens per watt efficacy; at 3000K it delivers 4960 lumens; at 5700K it delivers 5410 lumens. The LED array carries a 60,000-hour L70B50 rating and the fitting carries a 5-year warranty (battery excluded).

Frequently Asked
What does the self-test emergency function do?
The self-test function automatically tests the battery backup duration and emergency lamp function on a programmed schedule, typically monthly and annually. Test results are stored in the driver and can be interrogated via test button or remote monitoring systems. This reduces the need for manual emergency lighting compliance testing.
Can the colour temperature be changed after installation?
The CCT is selected via a switch on the driver before final installation. Once the fitting is wired and the diffuser is closed, changing the CCT requires opening the fitting and accessing the driver. The CCT should be set during commissioning to match the required light colour across the installation.
Is DALI dimming required or can it run on standard mains?
The fitting runs on standard 230V mains and does not require DALI control to operate at full output. The DALI interface is an optional control layer — if no DALI signal is present the fitting runs at full brightness. DALI allows integration into building control systems for occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting and scheduled dimming.
What mounting positions are available?
The fitting has rear conduit fixing points for surface mounting to ceilings or walls, and end conduit fixing points for suspended or chain-mounted installation. The fixing positions align with legacy 5ft twin-tube fluorescent batten mounts, allowing direct retrofit without re-drilling ceiling joists.
