Description
The Kami is a 1.78m torchiere floor lamp with a handcrafted Tiffany-style stained glass shade set on a vintage bronze resin base. The shade is assembled from individual pieces of art glass in amber, caramel, ginger and emerald tones, arranged in a floral-inspired pattern characteristic of Art Nouveau glasswork. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits upward-facing inside the bowl, directing light through the coloured glass and up towards the ceiling.
Designed as ambient uplighting rather than task light, the Kami suits living rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls where indirect ceiling wash is preferred over direct downlight. The 356mm-diameter shade sits on a turned column base with decorative bronze detailing, giving the lamp a footprint small enough for corners, alcoves or beside sofas without occupying significant floor space. The vintage bronze finish on the resin column and base provides tonal contrast to the warm glass tones above.
Each shade is handcrafted using the copper foil method developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, where individual glass pieces are wrapped in copper foil, soldered together, and then patinated to create the darker leading between glass sections. This means colour distribution and glass texture vary between individual lamps depending on the specific glass sheets used during assembly. The combined glass and bronze give the lamp a 4.2kg weight, requiring a stable floor surface rather than deep-pile rugs.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Kami take?
The lamp takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for ambient lighting that complements the amber and caramel glass tones.
Does the shade cast coloured light?
Yes. The amber, caramel, ginger and emerald glass pieces filter the light, projecting warm tones onto the ceiling and surrounding walls. The effect is most visible with warmer bulb temperatures (2700K-3000K) and becomes more pronounced in dimmed or evening lighting conditions.
Is each lamp identical?
No. Each shade is handcrafted from individual glass pieces using the copper foil method, so the exact distribution of colours, glass textures and patina varies between lamps. This is inherent to the Tiffany-style production process, not a defect.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 1778mm height works in rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings, leaving approximately 620mm clearance between the shade and ceiling. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the lamp but may reduce the spread of upward light wash.
