Description

The Knightsbridge JB007 is an 86x74x62mm weatherproof junction box rated to IP66 and IK06, constructed from impact-resistant grey polycarbonate. The enclosure provides protected housing for cable junctions, low-voltage controllers and connection blocks in outdoor or damp indoor locations. Multiple cable gland entry points allow cables to enter from different angles without needing additional drilling.

Designed for outdoor lighting junction boxes, garden power circuits, CCTV camera connection points and outdoor socket back boxes, the enclosure withstands direct water jets (IP66) and impacts up to 1 joule (IK06). The screw-fixed lid seals against a rubber gasket, preventing moisture ingress in exposed positions. The polycarbonate body resists UV degradation and will not crack under typical outdoor temperature swings between -15°C and 60°C.

The 86mm height and 74mm width give enough internal volume for standard UK terminal blocks with room for cable loops, while the 62mm projection keeps the enclosure profile low on external walls. The grey finish pairs with standard external wiring accessories and weathered masonry without standing out. Each corner has a mounting lug for screw fixing to solid walls, timber or metal substrates.

Frequently Asked

What does IP66 mean in practical terms?

IP66 means the enclosure is completely dust-tight and protected against heavy seas or powerful water jets from any direction. It can be mounted in fully exposed outdoor positions including coastal areas, although it is not rated for full submersion.

How many cable entry points does it have?

The enclosure has multiple pre-formed knockouts on different faces for cable gland insertion. The exact number depends on which size glands you use, but typically 4-6 glands fit without crowding the internal wiring space.

Can it be used for mains voltage?

Yes. The enclosure is rated for applications up to 230V AC at 50Hz. It is Class II, meaning it does not require an earth connection to the enclosure body itself, but any circuits wired inside must still follow standard UK wiring regulations including proper earthing of the cable cores.

Does the lid require a tool to open?

Yes. The lid is secured with four Phillips-head screws that must be removed to access the internal wiring. This prevents accidental opening and provides tamper resistance in public or semi-public locations.
