Inglenook Outdoor 2 Light Tiffany Flush Ceiling Light - Valiant Bronze

The Inglenook is a 261mm square flush ceiling light built around a hand-assembled Tiffany-style stained glass shade in amber, cream and blue tones, set within a valiant bronze metal frame. Two E27 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the glass panel, and the IP44 rating makes the fitting suitable for covered outdoor locations exposed to rain splash and humidity.

Designed for covered patios, porch ceilings and outdoor entrance halls where ceiling height is limited, the 154mm projection from ceiling to base of fitting makes the Inglenook work in spaces with 2.2m clearance or lower. The geometric stained glass pattern references Arts & Crafts design from the early 1900s, with radiating lines forming a sunburst motif on the lower panel and mosaic-style blocks forming a border on the four vertical sides. The glass diffuses light rather than directing it, providing ambient illumination across a 3-4m outdoor seating area.

Each glass panel is cut and copper-foiled by hand before being soldered into the metal frame, so minor variations in glass tone and solder line appearance are inherent to the manufacturing process. The valiant bronze finish is a dark oil-rubbed bronze with warm undertones, providing contrast against lighter render, brick and timber finishes commonly found on UK home exteriors. The fitting mounts directly to a standard ceiling rose and requires no additional mounting plate.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashing from any direction. This makes the Inglenook suitable for covered outdoor locations like porches and patio ceilings where it will not be directly exposed to heavy rain or standing water, but will encounter humidity and occasional rain splash.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two standard E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K for outdoor ambient lighting that complements the warm glass tones.

Can it be used in a bathroom or wet room?

The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (areas more than 60cm from a bath or shower). It is not rated for direct shower spray or wet room installation. For covered outdoor locations, it works well where there is an overhang or porch roof above.

Is the glass prone to breaking?

The stained glass is cut from standard art glass and copper-foiled in the traditional Tiffany method, making it more fragile than tempered or toughened glass. Handle with care during installation. Once fitted, the metal frame protects the glass from most accidental contact, but the fitting should not be installed in high-traffic areas where it could be knocked.
