Description

The Hoop is an 11cm recessed downlight with a black aluminium outer bezel surrounding a polished gold reflector ring, designed to fit a GX53 bulb base (bulb sold separately). The downlight sits flush with the ceiling once installed, projecting 5.3cm into the ceiling void, and provides fixed directional light where a permanent spotlight is needed without surface-mounted fittings.

Designed for residential and commercial interiors with ceiling heights of 2.4m and above, the Hoop suits hallways, living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms and retail environments where recessed ceiling light provides ambient or task illumination without cluttering sightlines. The fixed orientation means the light direction is set during installation and does not adjust afterwards, making it suitable for positions where the light target does not change. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments only.

The black outer bezel provides a defined edge against white or light-coloured ceilings, while the gold reflector increases the warmth of the emitted light by bouncing it off the metallic surface before it exits the fitting. This combination of black and gold works in both contemporary and classical interiors, pairing well with brass hardware, warm timber tones and darker accent colours. The aluminium and plastic construction keeps the fitting lightweight at approximately 150g, reducing load on plasterboard ceilings.

The downlight takes a GX53 base bulb up to 15W. GX53 bulbs are low-profile disc-style bulbs designed specifically for shallow recessed fittings. They are sold separately and available in warm white, cool white and daylight colour temperatures.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The fitting projects 5.3cm into the ceiling void. A minimum void depth of 60-70mm is recommended to allow clearance for the bulb, fitting body and wiring connections above the plasterboard or suspended ceiling grid.

Can the light direction be adjusted after installation?
