Hollis 2 Light Wall Light - Heritage Brass With Opal Glass

The Hinkley Hollis is a 2 light wall fitting with two white opal glass globes held in heritage brass cradles, mounted on an oval backplate measuring 381mm wide by 230mm high. Each globe houses a single E14 bulb (sold separately, maximum 40W per socket) and is bisected by a brass equator ring, creating a strong horizontal line across the fitting. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, as well as shower-adjacent positions where moisture is present but direct spray is not expected.

Designed for bathroom mirrors, hallway accent lighting and bedroom wall positions, the Hollis provides diffused ambient light rather than focused task light. The 193mm projection from the wall means it works best on walls 1.5m or wider, where it will not feel cramped. In bathrooms it pairs well with mirrored cabinets and vanity units, providing even illumination across both sides of the mirror when fitted centrally above. The opal glass softens the light from exposed-filament or clear LED bulbs, avoiding harsh reflections on polished surfaces.

The heritage brass finish is a mid-tone warm brass with subtle antiquing, sitting between polished brass and antique brass in tone. It develops a natural patina over time in humid environments, which is a characteristic of unlacquered brass finishes. The oval backplate conceals the wall fixing points and the internal wiring, and the decorative brass collars at each globe socket add mechanical detail consistent with the Art Deco influence in the design. The globes are approximately 150mm in diameter and made from triple-layer white opal glass, which provides good diffusion without reducing light output excessively.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, meaning it can be fitted above or beside a bath or shower (but not inside the shower enclosure itself) and anywhere else in the bathroom outside zone 1. It is splash-resistant but not designed for direct water spray.

What bulbs does it take?

Two E14 small Edison screw bulbs, up to 40W each. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle or golf-ball bulbs at 2700K-3000K and 4-6W per socket for bathroom lighting.

How far does it project from the wall?

193mm from the wall surface to the front of the opal glass globes. This means it needs wall clearance and works best on walls 1.5m or wider where it will not feel cramped or obstruct movement.

Does the heritage brass tarnish?

Heritage brass is a living finish that develops natural patina over time, particularly in humid environments like bathrooms. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect. If a consistent tone is preferred, wipe with a dry cloth regularly to slow the patina development.
