Description

The Hollis is a single-light wall bracket combining a matt black circular backplate, vertical arm and dual-band frame holding a clear seeded glass globe. The globe contains a single E14 candle bulb (sold separately, up to 40W) positioned centrally within the sphere, with light passing through the textured glass to create ambient and decorative illumination.

Rated IP44 for bathroom zones 2 and 3, the Hollis suits hallways, bathrooms and bedroom walls where a compact fitting is needed alongside period or contemporary interiors. The 403mm total height and 190mm projection from the wall provide presence without dominating narrow passages or alcoves. The dual metal bands wrapping the glass globe reference 1920s-30s Art Deco proportion, while the matt black finish keeps the look grounded rather than ornamental.

The seeded glass shows fine bubbles and imperfections consistent with handblown or hand-pressed production, giving each globe subtle variation in texture and light scatter when lit. The black finish is powder-coated onto metal and resists fingerprints and water marks in humid bathroom environments. The fitting mounts onto a standard UK backplate and works on standard mains-voltage switching without requiring a driver or transformer.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes the Hollis suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and more than 600mm from the bath edge). It is not rated for use directly above a bath or inside a shower cubicle.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in 2700K warm white for ambient bathroom or hallway lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb fitted. If you fit a dimmable E14 LED bulb and use a compatible trailing-edge dimmer on the wall circuit, the light output can be dimmed. The fitting itself does not prevent dimming.

Does the glass vary between pieces?

The seeded glass shows fine bubbles and texture variation typical of handblown or hand-pressed production. Individual globes differ slightly in bubble density and pattern, which is normal for this type of glass.
