Description
The Hive is a dual-function wall light combining a fabric-shaded E14 bulb fitting with a flexible 3W LED reading arm, both housed in a matt black metal backplate. The main light provides ambient illumination through a tapered black fabric shade, while the adjustable reading arm extends on a rubberised gooseneck to deliver focused light at 3000K colour temperature.
Designed for bedside installation in bedrooms, guest rooms and hotel applications, the Hive allows independent switching of both light sources. The main E14 fitting (bulb sold separately) acts as general room lighting or bedside ambient, while the integrated LED reading arm can be angled towards a book, tablet or laptop without disturbing a partner. The 480mm projection from the wall allows the reading arm to reach over a typical bedside table or across a pillow when wall-mounted at headboard height.
The matt black finish on the metal components gives a low-sheen surface that pairs with both monochrome and industrial interiors. The fabric shade diffuses the E14 bulb light evenly across the room, while the LED reading arm focuses a narrow beam exactly where it is needed. The backplate measures 180mm wide and conceals standard UK wiring behind the wall, with all connections made at the mounting point before the cover plate is fixed.
The Hive carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use and comes with a 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux. The reading arm LED is non-replaceable but rated for approximately 30,000 hours of use under typical domestic conditions.

Frequently Asked
Can the reading light be switched separately from the main light?
Yes. The Hive has a single switch that provides independent control of both the main E14 shaded light and the flexible LED reading arm. This allows the ambient light to be off while the reading arm is on, or vice versa.
What bulb does the main shade take?
The main light fitting takes a standard E14 small Edison screw bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K to match the reading arm's colour temperature.
How far does the reading arm extend?
The total projection from the wall is 480mm when fully extended. The flexible gooseneck allows the LED head to be positioned anywhere within that arc, making it suitable for bedside reading without needing to lean forward.
Is the LED reading arm replaceable if it fails?
No, the 3W LED in the reading arm is integrated and non-replaceable. However, it is rated for approximately 30,000 hours of use and is covered by Ideal Lux's 5-year warranty.
