Description

The HDview 5MP dome IP camera combines a motorised 2.8-12mm varifocal lens with a 1/2.7-inch image sensor, delivering 2592 x 1944 resolution at 20fps. The motorised lens adjusts remotely via software, allowing the field of view to shift from 102° wide-angle at 2.8mm to 31° telephoto at 12mm without physically accessing the camera, which is particularly useful when the camera is ceiling-mounted or installed at height.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor installation, the camera carries an IP66 housing that protects against dust ingress and high-pressure water jets, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas, warehouses, retail premises and domestic perimeter monitoring. The 45m infrared LED illumination provides night vision in complete darkness, with the IR automatically switching on at dusk. PoE (Power over Ethernet) allows a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable to supply both power and data, reducing installation complexity and cable runs.

The camera supports H.265 video compression, which reduces file sizes by approximately 50% compared to H.264 while retaining the same image quality, halving storage requirements and network bandwidth usage. ONVIF compliance ensures compatibility with third-party NVRs and VMS software. The camera includes a built-in microphone for audio capture, an SD card slot for local backup recording, and audio input/output terminals for connecting external speakers or microphones. Operating temperature range of -30°C to +60°C suits year-round UK outdoor use.

The white polycarbonate dome housing measures 126mm diameter and projects 103mm from the mounting surface, with a total packaged weight of 735g. Power consumption stays below 9W on PoE, allowing up to 30 cameras on a standard 802.3af PoE switch without exceeding per-port power budgets.

Frequently Asked

How is the varifocal lens adjusted?

The 2.8-12mm lens is motorised and adjusts remotely via the camera's web interface or NVR software. You do not need physical access to the camera to change the field of view once it is installed.

Can this be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP66 housing protects against dust and high-pressure water jets, making the camera suitable for outdoor installation in covered or exposed positions. The operating temperature range of -30°C to +60°C handles UK seasonal extremes.

What is the infrared range?

The built-in IR LEDs provide illumination up to 45m in total darkness. The IR automatically activates at dusk and switches off at dawn, with manual override available via software.

Does it require a separate power supply if using PoE?

No. When connected to a PoE switch or injector, the camera draws power and data over the same Ethernet cable. The camera also accepts 12V DC input if PoE is unavailable, but you would need to supply power separately in that configuration.
