Description

The HDview 5MP PoE dome camera records 2560 x 1920 resolution video through a 2.8mm fixed lens with a 97° horizontal viewing angle, suitable for monitoring entrances, reception areas, small offices and residential driveways. The 1/2.7" image sensor captures colour footage during daylight and switches to black-and-white infrared when ambient light drops, with 30m infrared LED range for night recording.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor installation, the camera carries IP66 ingress protection against dust and water jets, making it suitable for wall or ceiling mounting under eaves, porch canopies or covered external areas. Power is supplied via 12V DC or Power over Ethernet (PoE), with PoE allowing both data and power to run over a single Cat5e/Cat6 cable back to a compatible NVR or PoE switch. The built-in microphone records audio alongside video where local regulations permit.

The camera uses H.265 video compression to reduce file sizes and bandwidth consumption compared to older H.264 codecs, making it more efficient for continuous recording to an NVR or to the onboard SD card slot. ONVIF compliance ensures the camera integrates with third-party NVR systems beyond HDview's own ecosystem. The white housing measures 135mm diameter by 120mm height and operates in temperatures from -30°C to +55°C.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between PoE and 12V DC power?

PoE (Power over Ethernet) sends both power and data over a single network cable from a PoE switch or NVR, simplifying installation. 12V DC requires a separate power supply and cable. Most users prefer PoE where the infrastructure supports it.

What viewing angle does the 2.8mm lens provide?

The 2.8mm fixed lens gives approximately 97° horizontal viewing angle. This covers a typical single-car driveway, a 3-4m-wide room, or a standard doorway and immediate approach area from a ceiling-mounted position.

Does the camera record sound?

Yes, a built-in microphone records audio alongside video. Check local privacy and surveillance regulations before enabling audio recording in your jurisdiction.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP66 rating protects against dust and water jets, making the camera suitable for outdoor installation under eaves, porch canopies or other covered positions. It operates in temperatures from -30°C to +55°C.
