Description

The HDview 4MP AHD bullet camera records at 2560x1440 resolution through a 2.8-12mm varifocal lens, giving a field of view adjustable between 98° and 34° depending on how the lens is set on installation. The camera uses an AHD (Analogue High Definition) signal format, which transmits 4MP video over standard coaxial cable to a compatible AHD DVR without requiring network infrastructure.

Designed for outdoor security installation on domestic and commercial properties, the camera is housed in an IP66-rated metal bullet casing with a three-axis cable management bracket allowing pan, tilt and rotation adjustment during fitting. Built-in infrared LEDs provide illumination up to 30m in complete darkness, switching automatically between day and night modes based on ambient light levels. The grey finish reduces visual contrast against rendered walls, soffits and grey uPVC.

The camera applies D-WDR (Digital Wide Dynamic Range) processing to balance exposure in scenes with both bright and dark areas simultaneously, such as doorways lit from behind or car parks with shadow zones. ATR (Adaptive Tone Reproduction) within the D-WDR algorithm adjusts local contrast to preserve detail in highlights and shadows. 3D noise reduction filtering cleans the image in low-light conditions without blurring motion, while exposure control and high-light compensation prevent overexposure from car headlights, security lights or direct sun.

The varifocal lens is manually adjustable on installation by loosening a locking ring and rotating the barrel to the desired focal length, then re-tightening. Once set, the lens holds focus across the full 30m IR range. The 0.77kg camera mounts via the three-axis bracket to walls, soffits, poles or eaves using the included fixings, with cable entry through the rear gland or side knockouts.

Frequently Asked

What DVR does this camera require?

The camera uses AHD (Analogue High Definition) signal format and requires a compatible 4MP AHD DVR. It transmits over standard coaxial cable (RG59 or RG6) and will not work with IP network recorders or older analogue DVRs that do not support 4MP AHD.

How is the lens focal length adjusted?

The 2.8-12mm varifocal lens is manually adjustable on installation. Loosen the locking ring on the lens barrel, rotate to the desired focal length between wide-angle (2.8mm, 98° field of view) and telephoto (12mm, 34° field of view), then re-tighten the ring to lock focus.

What is the night vision range?

Built-in infrared LEDs illuminate up to 30m in complete darkness. The camera switches automatically between day and night modes based on ambient light, with the IR cut filter moving out of the optical path at night to maximise sensitivity.

Is the camera suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The metal bullet housing carries an IP66 weatherproof rating, protecting against rain, dust and hose-directed water. The housing is designed for permanent outdoor installation on walls, soffits or poles in the UK climate.
