Description
The Harper is a 456mm semi-flush ceiling light built around a drum of opal etched glass, wrapped in a heritage brass frame with curved arms and cylindrical decorative knobs at the tension points. Three E27 bulbs inside the glass drum (sold separately) provide general ambient lighting, with the opal etching diffusing the light output evenly across the ceiling and downwards into the room.
Designed for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.6m, the Harper sits 253mm below the ceiling rose, giving enough clearance for comfortable room circulation while maintaining a substantial presence. The semi-flush format works in rooms where a full pendant would hang too low but a flush mount would feel visually too flat. The heritage brass finish carries a warm antique tone that pairs with traditional, mid-century and warmer contemporary interiors.
The metal cage structure divides the glass drum into thirds visually, creating a segmented appearance when unlit and a glowing layered effect when the bulbs are on. The decorative knobs at each joint between the curved arms and the horizontal bands add a mechanical detail that references industrial and Art Deco lighting without fully committing to either style. The opal glass itself is etched rather than plain, giving a finer grain to the diffusion and reducing glare when viewed from below.
Each of the three E27 sockets accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving a combined maximum wattage of 180W. Most installations use LED equivalents in the 6-10W range per socket, producing between 1,800-3,000 lumens total output depending on the specific bulbs chosen. The fitting installs onto standard UK ceiling roses and wiring, with the glass shade and metal frame assembly removing from the ceiling plate for bulb replacement.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling height does this suit?
The Harper works in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.3-2.6m. At 253mm below the ceiling rose, it provides enough clearance for general circulation while maintaining a balanced visual presence. Rooms with higher ceilings may benefit from a full pendant rather than a semi-flush.
What bulbs does it take?
The Harper takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each, sold separately. Most installations use warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W per socket, giving a combined output of approximately 1,800-3,000 lumens depending on the specific bulbs chosen.
Can the glass shade be removed for bulb changes?
Yes. The glass drum and metal cage assembly detaches from the ceiling plate, allowing access to all three bulb sockets without needing to remove the entire fixture from the ceiling wiring.
How is the heritage brass finished?
The heritage brass finish carries a warm antique tone with subtle darker tonal variation, giving it a lived-in appearance rather than the high shine of polished brass or the uniform tone of brushed brass. The finish is lacquered to prevent tarnishing over time.
