Description
The Halmstad is a 490mm outdoor bollard light combining a treated pine wood column with black powder-coated steel base, top and louvre cage, and an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The E27 socket sits behind the louvre cage and diffuser, directing light horizontally through five black steel slats that break the light into banded layers across pathways and borders.
Designed for garden paths, driveway edges, patio perimeters and entrances, the Halmstad provides low-level way-marking and ambient light without causing glare at eye level. The 490mm height positions the light source below typical waist height, making it suitable for paths where taller bollards would interrupt sightlines across a garden. The IP65 rating protects internal components from water jets and dust ingress, allowing the bollard to be installed in exposed coastal locations and open garden positions.
The treated pine column develops a weathered grey-silver patina over time when exposed to UV and rain, while the black powder-coated steel resists corrosion. The opal polycarbonate diffuser softens the output from the E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) and distributes the light evenly through the horizontal louvres. The 120mm square footprint allows the bollard to be mounted on timber decking, paving slabs or directly into ground via a foundation spike (sold separately).

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Halmstad take?
The bollard takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for outdoor path lighting.
How is the bollard installed?
The 120mm square base can be surface-mounted onto timber decking or paving slabs using fixings appropriate to the substrate. Alternatively, a separate ground spike (sold separately) allows the bollard to be installed directly into soil or gravel borders.
Will the wood change colour over time?
Yes. The treated pine column weathers naturally when exposed to UV light and rain, typically developing a grey-silver patina over 6-18 months. This is a characteristic of outdoor timber and does not affect structural integrity or the IP65 rating.
Can it be used in coastal locations?
Yes. The IP65 rating and powder-coated steel construction make the Halmstad suitable for coastal and exposed locations where salt spray and wind-driven rain are present. The treated pine resists rot in damp conditions.
