Description
The Goldenrod is a 510mm outdoor wall lantern built around a rectangular frame of Western Bronze metal with clear bevelled glass panels on all four sides and removable gold-painted vertical rods. A single E27 bulb fitting sits inside the glass enclosure, visible through the bevelled panels when lit. The lantern mounts via a backplate and carries an IP44 rating for weather resistance in exposed UK outdoor locations.
Designed for covered porches, front door surrounds, garage sides and courtyard walls, the Goldenrod pairs well with mid-century, Arts & Crafts and contemporary exteriors where mixed-metal finishes are already present. The 270mm projection from the wall means the lantern stands clear of rendered or brick surfaces without overwhelming narrower pathways. The bevelled glass creates a subtle prismatic effect when sunlight catches the edges during the day, and the clear panels allow full light transmission at night without frosting or tinting.
The gold rods are removable on installation, allowing the fitting to be used either with the contrasting gold accents or as a simpler bronze-and-glass lantern depending on the aesthetic of the building. The Western Bronze finish is a warm, dark brown-toned bronze rather than a greenish patina, so it reads closer to oil-rubbed bronze in tone. The IP44 rating means the lantern is protected against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for UK coastal, high-rainfall and exposed garden wall positions.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashing from any direction. It is suitable for covered porches, house walls, courtyard walls and any position sheltered from direct overhead rain. It is not rated for ground-level burial or for positions where it would sit in standing water.
Can the gold rods be removed?
Yes. The vertical gold-painted rods are removable during installation, allowing the lantern to be fitted with the mixed-metal look or as a simpler Western Bronze and glass fitting without the gold accents.
What bulb does it take?
The Goldenrod takes one E27 bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-10W and 2200K-2700K to match the mid-century aesthetic and provide amber-toned outdoor light.
What is the Western Bronze finish?
Western Bronze is a warm, dark brown-toned bronze finish rather than a greenish patina. It reads visually close to oil-rubbed bronze and pairs well with warm-toned brickwork, timber cladding and natural stone exteriors.
