Description

The Fort Smart Burglar Alarm Kit 1 is a wireless home security system built around a Wi-Fi-enabled hub with GSM backup capability, supplied with one PIR motion sensor, one door/window contact sensor, and a four-button remote control. The hub connects to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for app-based arming, disarming and alert notifications, and accepts a standard SIM card (not included) to send SMS alerts if the Wi-Fi connection is lost.

Designed for residential properties, flats and small offices, the system works without monthly subscriptions or monitoring fees once installed. The hub supports up to 32 wireless devices on the 433MHz RF band, allowing the kit to be expanded with additional PIR sensors, door contacts, smoke detectors and panic buttons (sold separately). The built-in 95dB siren activates when motion is detected or a contact is triggered while the system is armed, and the app sends a push notification to the user's phone in real time.

The hub measures 210mm wide by 183mm deep and houses a rechargeable backup battery that provides up to eight hours of standby power if mains is lost. The PIR sensor covers standard room corners with 80-metre open-field RF transmission to the hub, and the door/window contact uses a magnetic reed switch to detect opening. The remote control offers one-touch arming, disarming, home mode and SOS panic button functions without needing to open the app.

All components arrive in white plastic housings that blend into most interior colour schemes. The system requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi router (5GHz is not supported) and mains power to the hub location. Initial setup is completed through the Fort app (iOS and Android), which pairs each sensor to the hub and configures alert preferences, user access and GSM backup settings.

Does the system require a monthly subscription?

No. Once installed, the Fort system operates without monthly fees or subscriptions. App notifications and control are included at no ongoing cost. The optional GSM backup requires a SIM card with an active data/SMS plan, which is a separate mobile contract, not a Fort subscription.

What's in the box?

The kit includes one Wi-Fi hub, one PIR motion sensor, one door/window contact sensor, one remote control, mains power adapter, mounting brackets and fixings. A SIM card is not included — users supply their own if they want GSM backup alerts.

Can I add more sensors later?

Yes. The hub supports up to 32 wireless devices on the 433MHz RF band. Additional PIR sensors, door/window contacts, smoke detectors and panic buttons from the Fort range can be paired through the app.

What Wi-Fi does it need?

The hub requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. It does not support 5GHz-only routers. Most dual-band routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals, so ensure the hub is connected to the 2.4GHz SSID during setup.
