Description

The Fort Smart Security 3.7V 2200mAh is a lithium-ion 18650 rechargeable battery designed for burglar alarm systems, wireless sensors and other low-drain security devices that require a compact rechargeable power source. The cell measures 65mm long by 18mm diameter and delivers 3.7V nominal voltage with a 2200mAh capacity, providing extended run-time between charges in typical alarm sensor applications.

This battery type is commonly used in wireless PIR detectors, door/window contacts, glass break sensors and other components of Fort Smart Security alarm systems where mains power is not practical. The 18650 form factor is a standard cylindrical cell size widely supported by compatible charging docks and battery holders. The protected cell design includes internal circuitry to prevent over-discharge and over-charge, extending the usable lifespan of the battery across hundreds of charge cycles.

Lithium-ion chemistry offers higher energy density than NiMH or alkaline alternatives in the same physical size, meaning the battery can power devices for longer between charges without increasing the size of the sensor housing. The 2200mAh capacity is a mid-range rating in the 18650 category, balancing run-time with cost. At 45g the battery is light enough for wall-mounted sensors to remain securely fixed without additional support.

Frequently Asked

Is this battery rechargeable?

Yes. This is a lithium-ion rechargeable cell. It can be recharged hundreds of times using a compatible 18650 lithium-ion charger. Do not attempt to charge with a NiMH or NiCd charger as the voltage and charge profile differ.

What devices is it compatible with?

The battery is designed for Fort Smart Security alarm components including wireless PIR detectors, door/window contacts and glass break sensors. It fits any device specifying an 18650 3.7V lithium-ion cell. Check your device manual for battery type before ordering.

How long does a charge last?

Run-time depends on the device and how often it activates. In a typical wireless PIR sensor that transmits intermittently, a full charge may last several months. High-frequency transmission or devices with backlighting will drain the battery faster.

What does the 'protected' cell design mean?

Protected cells include internal circuitry that prevents over-discharge (draining below safe voltage) and over-charge (exceeding safe voltage during charging). This protection extends the battery's lifespan and reduces the risk of damage from incorrect charging.
