Description

The Focus S is a 52mm diameter surface-mounted downlight built from an aluminium housing finished in brass, fitted with a single GU10 socket rated at 10W maximum. The cylindrical body measures 100mm tall and mounts directly to the ceiling surface, directing light downward through a clear reflector at the base of the housing.

Designed for rooms where recessed ceiling downlights are impractical due to shallow ceiling voids or concrete construction, the Focus S provides ceiling-mounted accent lighting without cutting into the ceiling structure. The fixed beam angle suits task lighting over kitchen worktops, reading areas, bedside positions, or feature wall washing where directed light is needed. The brass finish carries a warm metallic tone that sits between polished brass and satin brass, with a subtle sheen rather than a mirror polish.

The aluminium construction keeps the weight down to approximately 200g per unit, allowing multiple downlights to be surface-mounted across a ceiling without structural concern. The IP20 rating confirms the fitting is suitable for dry interior spaces only — not bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use. The GU10 socket accepts standard UK GU10 LED or halogen bulbs (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and beam spread depending on the bulb chosen.

What bulb does it take?

The Focus S takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a GU10 LED in either warm white (2700-3000K) or cool white (4000K) depending on the room use.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry interior rooms only. Bathrooms, wet rooms and outdoor locations require IP44 or higher.

Is the beam angle adjustable?

The Focus S is a fixed downlight — the housing does not tilt or rotate once installed. Beam angle is controlled by the GU10 bulb fitted: narrow spot bulbs (25-38°) for accent lighting, wide flood bulbs (60-120°) for general coverage.

How is it mounted?

The downlight surface-mounts directly to the ceiling using two fixing screws through the base plate. The mains cable enters through a knockout in the rear of the housing. No cutting or ceiling void access is required.
