Description

The Focus S Long is a single-head surface spotlight built around a 19.2cm cylindrical aluminium housing in a matt black powder-coated finish. The lamp head sits on a ball-joint mechanism allowing 350° rotation and approximately 90° tilt, giving directional control over a GU10 lamp up to 10W. The fitting mounts directly to standard ceiling junction boxes without requiring recessed installation.

Designed for accent lighting in kitchens, retail displays, galleries and home offices, the Focus S directs light onto worktops, artwork, shelving or architectural features without spilling ambient light into the wider room. The 5.2cm diameter head keeps the fitting compact enough for installation on lower ceilings or in clusters where multiple spots are needed within a small ceiling area. The black finish recedes visually against dark ceilings and pairs cleanly with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors.

The aluminium construction gives the fitting a 0.4kg weight, light enough to mount on plasterboard ceilings with standard fixings but substantial enough to hold the lamp head in position once adjusted. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry internal environments — it is not suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor use. The GU10 base accepts any standard LED, halogen or CFL GU10 lamp up to 10W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose beam angle, colour temperature and brightness depending on application.

What bulb does it take?

The Focus S takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is needed. Beam angle choice (narrow 38° or wide 60°) depends on whether the spotlight is used for accent or task lighting.

How much can the head be adjusted?

The lamp head rotates approximately 350° horizontally and tilts around 90° vertically on a ball-joint mechanism. Once adjusted to the required angle, friction in the joint holds the head in position without needing a locking screw.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry internal environments. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms, shower rooms or outdoors where moisture is present.

Is the spotlight dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulb used. Many LED GU10 bulbs are dimmable, but you must pair them with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer.
