Description

The Focus is a 60mm diameter surface-mounted downlight with a cylindrical aluminium body in a matt black finish and a single GU10 bulb holder. The 130mm projection from the ceiling delivers a directed beam downward, providing accent or task lighting without requiring a ceiling recess or cut-out.

Designed for residential and commercial spaces where recessed downlights are impractical due to shallow ceiling voids, concrete construction, or heritage building restrictions, the Focus suits hallways, gallery walls, kitchen worktops, retail displays and office task areas. The fixed beam angle focuses light onto a specific zone below the fitting rather than spreading it across a room, making it useful for highlighting artworks, illuminating counters, or marking circulation routes. Multiple units can be spaced at regular intervals to create runs of accent lighting along corridors or above kitchen islands.

The aluminium construction gives the fitting a 340g weight that mounts securely to plasterboard or masonry ceilings using a standard surface box and fixings. The matt black finish absorbs ambient light and reduces visual presence when viewed from below, allowing the fitting to recede into darker ceiling planes. The IP20 rating limits the Focus to dry interior zones only and excludes bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3. The GU10 holder accepts any standard LED, halogen or CFL GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), giving control over beam width, colour temperature and dimming capability depending on the bulb chosen.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. The Focus accepts any standard GU10 bulb up to 10W but bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for accent lighting, or a narrower beam angle for gallery or artwork lighting.

Can it be installed without recessing the ceiling?

Yes. The Focus is a surface-mounted fitting designed specifically for installation where recessing is impractical. It mounts to the ceiling surface using a standard surface box and fixings, with no ceiling cut-out required.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits the Focus to dry interior zones only and excludes bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3. For bathroom use, an IP44 or IP65 rated fitting is required.

Is the beam direction adjustable?

No. The Focus is a fixed downlight with the beam directed vertically downward from the ceiling. The beam cannot be tilted or rotated once installed.
