Description
The ESP Duceri is a 3W LED emergency exit sign with an up arrow directional legend, housed in a chrome-finished steel box measuring 390 x 190 x 60mm. The sign operates in maintained mode, meaning the LED illumination stays on continuously during normal mains power and switches to battery backup during power failure. The 3W SMT 2835 LED array produces 5500K daylight white light visible from 25 metres, meeting BS EN 60598-2-22 emergency lighting standards.
Designed for surface mounting on walls in corridors, stairwells and exit routes where vertical direction signage is required, the Duceri guides building occupants towards stairs, lifts or upper-level exits during both normal operation and emergency evacuation. The chrome finish suits commercial, retail, hospitality and industrial environments where a functional metallic aesthetic is preferred over painted white boxes. The sign requires connection to a permanent 230V mains supply and is wired into the building's emergency lighting circuit.
The integrated LiFePO4 lithium battery (model D001) provides 3 hours of emergency illumination once mains power fails, with built-in charge and discharge protection preventing over-discharge damage and extending battery service life. A green LED indicator on the face confirms that the battery is charging correctly during mains operation. The steel housing is wall-mounted using fixings through holes in the back plate, with cable entry via a rear knockout. The unit weighs 1.2kg net, giving it sufficient presence to resist accidental knocks once installed.

Frequently Asked
What does maintained mode mean?
Maintained mode means the LED stays illuminated continuously during normal mains power, acting as both a visible sign and emergency backup. When mains power fails, the sign continues to illuminate from its internal battery for 3 hours.
What is the viewing distance?
The sign is visible from 25 metres under emergency lighting conditions. This makes it suitable for medium to large commercial spaces, corridors and stairwells where occupants need clear directional guidance during evacuation.
Does it require specialist installation?
Yes. Emergency lighting must be installed by a qualified electrician and connected to the building's emergency lighting circuit to comply with BS EN 60598-2-22 and building regulations. The sign requires a permanent 230V mains supply.
How long does the battery last?
The LiFePO4 battery provides 3 hours of emergency illumination once mains power fails. The battery life expectancy is typically 4-5 years depending on charge/discharge cycles and environmental conditions. Replacement batteries are available separately.
