Description

The ESP CPS16 is a 16-way 12V DC power supply delivering up to 16 amps total output across 18 individual channels, housed in a wall-mountable metal enclosure measuring 342x330x98mm. Each output channel carries a 1.1A automatic PTC (positive temperature coefficient) resettable fuse that isolates a short-circuited camera or device without affecting the other channels or requiring manual fuse replacement.

Designed for CCTV installations where multiple 12V cameras need to be powered from a single mains input, the CPS16 accepts 100-240V AC at 50/60Hz and converts it to regulated 12V DC. The unit mounts inside a control room, plant room, or behind a false ceiling, with the 18 output leads running to individual camera positions. Green LED indicators on the circuit board show which outputs are active and drawing current, making fault diagnosis straightforward during commissioning or maintenance.

The metal housing provides earthing continuity and houses both the transformer/rectifier module and the distribution board with pre-wired DC output connectors. An internal rocker switch on the AC input side allows the supply to be isolated without disconnecting mains cables. Surge and short-circuit protection is built into the input stage, protecting the transformer from mains spikes and preventing damage if an output cable is shorted during installation.

At 3.95kg net weight the unit requires secure wall fixings, typically four M6 screws into masonry or timber studwork. The 18 output connectors are standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC barrel plugs, compatible with most 12V CCTV cameras and infrared illuminators. The CPS16 is also used in access control, intruder alarm and building automation systems where distributed 12V DC loads need centralised power with per-channel fault isolation.

Frequently Asked

How many cameras can this power?

The CPS16 provides 18 individual outputs with a total capacity of 16 amps at 12V DC. Each output has a 1.1A PTC fuse, so you can connect up to 18 cameras drawing up to 1.1A each, or fewer cameras if individual cameras draw more current. Total load across all outputs must not exceed 16A.

What happens if one camera short-circuits?

Each output has an automatic PTC resettable fuse rated at 1.1A. If a camera or cable short-circuits, the PTC fuse for that channel isolates the fault without affecting the other 17 outputs. The fuse resets automatically once the fault is cleared and the unit cools.

Can this be used outdoors?

The CPS16 is designed for indoor installation in dry, ventilated locations such as control rooms, plant rooms, or ceiling voids. It has no IP rating and should not be exposed to moisture, condensation or direct weather.

What type of DC connectors does it use?

The 18 outputs use standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC barrel plugs, compatible with most 12V CCTV cameras, infrared illuminators and related equipment.
