Description

The ESP GUARDCAM is a 4MP Wi-Fi security camera paired with two 25W LED floodlights, delivering 2600 lumens of 5000K daylight-white illumination when motion is detected. The camera records at 2K resolution (2560 x 1440) with a 116° wide-angle lens covering driveways, side passages and rear gardens from a single wall-mounted position. An integrated PIR sensor triggers both recording and the LED lamps, with the option to activate human-only detection to filter out animal and vehicle movement.

Designed for perimeter security on residential and light commercial properties, the GUARDCAM mounts to external walls using a threaded conduit entry for the mains cable. The unit operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks or via wired Ethernet connection, streaming live footage to a smartphone app without subscription fees or cloud storage charges. Two-way audio allows communication through the camera from the app, useful for greeting visitors or deterring unwanted access. The LED lamps can be remotely dimmed or switched on manually from the app outside of motion-triggered activation.

The IP65-rated enclosure protects the camera module, speaker, microphone and LED arrays from dust ingress and water jets, allowing year-round outdoor installation in UK weather conditions. The operating temperature range of -20°C to +50°C covers winter frost and summer heat without requiring seasonal removal. The black ABS housing measures 335mm wide by 242mm high with a 255mm projection from the wall once fitted, providing coverage across a typical 6-8m detection zone depending on mounting height. Recorded footage is stored locally on a microSD card (not included, supports up to 256GB) or on a network-attached storage device via ONVIF protocol.

Does this camera require a subscription for recording?

No. The GUARDCAM records to a local microSD card (up to 256GB, sold separately) or to network-attached storage via ONVIF protocol without monthly fees or cloud storage charges. Live view and playback are accessed through the free smartphone app.

Can the floodlights be controlled independently of motion detection?

Yes. The dual LED lamps can be manually switched on or dimmed remotely from the app outside of motion-triggered activation, allowing the unit to function as a standard outdoor security light when needed.

What Wi-Fi network does it support?

The camera operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks, or can connect via wired Ethernet for more stable connections in areas with weak wireless signal. The unit does not support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) at this time.

Is professional installation required?

Mains voltage wiring is required to power the camera and LED lamps. Installation should be carried out by a competent person familiar with UK electrical regulations or by a qualified electrician, particularly where new cable runs are needed from a consumer unit.
