Description

The Eris is a 45W constant current LED driver from Ideal Lux, designed to supply stable current to dimmable LED lighting installations. The unit outputs a fixed current (rather than fixed voltage), which maintains consistent LED brightness and prevents flicker when paired with compatible dimmer controls and LED fittings.

Intended for indoor residential and commercial LED installations, the driver measures 167mm long by 39mm deep, allowing it to be concealed inside ceiling voids, behind panels, or within false ceilings where space is limited. The IP20 rating confirms the unit is safe for dry indoor environments but must not be used in damp or outdoor locations. The compact plastic housing includes mounting brackets at each end for secure fixing.

The constant current output protects connected LEDs from voltage fluctuations on the mains supply and allows multiple LED modules or strips to be wired in series without individual drivers. Dimming compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model used — the Eris works with most leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmers designed for constant current LED loads. Ideal Lux backs the driver with a 5-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between constant current and constant voltage drivers?

Constant current drivers like the Eris supply a fixed current (measured in milliamps) regardless of voltage fluctuations, which is required by most LED modules and prevents flicker. Constant voltage drivers supply a fixed voltage (12V or 24V typically) and are used for LED tape. Use the driver type specified by your LED fitting manufacturer.

Can this be used with any dimmer switch?

The Eris is rated as dimmable, but compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model. It works with most leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmers designed for constant current LED loads. Check your dimmer manufacturer's compatibility list or contact us before pairing to confirm.

What does the IP20 rating mean?

IP20 means the driver is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm (fingers, tools) but has no moisture protection. It must be installed in dry indoor locations only — not in bathrooms, outdoor canopies, or anywhere subject to condensation.

Where is the driver typically installed?

The 167mm length and 39mm depth allow the driver to be concealed inside ceiling voids, behind wall panels, or within false ceilings. It must be accessible for maintenance and installed with adequate ventilation to prevent overheating.
