Description

The Eris is a 35W constant current LED driver in a white plastic housing measuring 167mm long by 41mm wide, designed to power dimmable LED light fittings requiring stable current regulation. The driver converts 230V mains input to a regulated DC output, maintaining consistent current delivery to LED arrays regardless of voltage fluctuations on the supply side.

Designed for installation within ceiling voids, above plasterboard ceilings, or inside larger light fittings where IP20 protection is adequate, the driver supports TRIAC and phase-cut dimmer switches commonly found in UK residential and light commercial installations. The compact 167mm length allows it to fit inside standard ceiling joists spaced at 400mm or 600mm centres, and the low-profile 41mm width fits alongside existing wiring without requiring additional ceiling depth.

The constant current regulation prevents LED flicker and colour shift that can occur when LEDs are powered by unregulated supplies or dimmed using incompatible drivers. The driver carries a 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux, an Italian lighting manufacturer established in 1975 and known for producing mid-range decorative fittings and technical lighting components for the European market.

Frequently Asked

What dimmer switches is it compatible with?

The Eris supports TRIAC and phase-cut dimmer switches commonly installed in UK homes. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model and the total load on the circuit. Check dimmer manufacturer specifications for minimum and maximum loads before pairing.

Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoor locations?

No. The IP20 rating means the driver is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It cannot be installed in bathrooms (which require IP44 minimum), kitchens near sinks, or any outdoor location. Install above ceilings or inside dry light fittings only.

What output current does it provide?

The driver provides constant current output, meaning the current (measured in milliamps) remains stable while voltage adjusts to the LED load. The exact output current specification is printed on the driver label. Ensure your LED fitting's current requirement matches the driver output before connecting.

How is it wired into a lighting circuit?

The driver connects to 230V mains input on one side and to the LED fitting's DC input on the other. All connections must be made by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations. The driver must be accessible for maintenance after installation.
