Description
The Erda is a 50cm spherical outdoor pedestal light moulded from white PMMA plastic with an IP54 rating for dust and moisture resistance. A single E27 bulb fitting inside the sphere casts light through the translucent plastic, producing diffused ambient illumination across pathways, driveways, patios and garden borders.
Designed for UK outdoor residential use, the Erda runs on standard 230V mains and accepts E27 LED, CFL or filament bulbs up to 30W (sold separately). The 49cm height and 50cm diameter sit low enough not to obstruct sightlines across a garden while providing enough presence to mark corners, steps or path edges. The moulded PMMA construction resists UV degradation and impact better than glass spheres, making it suitable for high-traffic areas where a traditional glass bollard might be vulnerable.
The IP54 rating means the Erda is protected against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, but is not submersible or designed for direct exposure to heavy rain without a sheltered position. The white finish pairs with contemporary garden schemes, coastal settings and minimalist paving. The sphere sits on a three-point base that distributes weight evenly on grass, gravel or paving, and the base houses the cable entry point for mains connection by a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Erda take?
The Erda uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 30W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb for energy efficiency and long bulb life outdoors.
Can the Erda be used in all weathers?
The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, making the Erda suitable for patios, driveways and gardens. It is not submersible and is not designed for direct heavy rain exposure without some shelter, such as under an eave or pergola.
How is the Erda installed?
The Erda requires mains connection by a qualified electrician. The cable enters through the base, which sits on a three-point foot. The sphere is a sealed unit and cannot be opened for bulb changes — check the manual for the specific maintenance procedure.
Is the PMMA plastic durable outdoors?
PMMA (acrylic) plastic resists UV degradation and impact better than glass. It will not shatter if knocked, making it suitable for high-traffic areas where children or animals may contact the light. The white finish may yellow slightly over several years of UV exposure.
