Description
The Duceri is a 3W LED maintained emergency exit sign with an up arrow legend, built around a white polycarbonate housing that frames a 190 x 300mm illuminated green panel. The sign operates as a maintained fitting, meaning it stays illuminated continuously when mains power is present and switches to battery backup during a power failure, providing 3 hours of emergency illumination from a 3.6V 900mAh Ni-Cd battery.
Designed for commercial buildings, offices, schools, retail premises and public buildings where Building Regulations require visible emergency exit route signage, the Duceri mounts to either walls or ceilings and is visible from up to 24 metres in clear conditions. The SMD 3528 LED lamp produces a cool 5500K white light that illuminates the green running figure and up arrow graphic, meeting BS EN 60598-2-22 standards for emergency lighting equipment.
The polycarbonate frame withstands knocks and impacts better than acrylic or glass alternatives, making it suitable for high-traffic areas including corridors, stairwells and hallways. A green LED indicator on the front panel shows charging status when the unit is connected to mains power. Charge and discharge protection circuitry prevents battery degradation and extends the lifespan of the Ni-Cd cell beyond basic trickle-charge designs.

Frequently Asked
What does 'maintained' mean for emergency lighting?
A maintained emergency sign stays illuminated continuously when connected to mains power, then switches to battery backup during a power cut. This differs from non-maintained signs, which only illuminate when mains power fails. Maintained signs are typically required in public buildings and workplaces where exit routes must be visible at all times.
How long does the battery last during a power cut?
The 3.6V 900mAh Ni-Cd battery provides 3 hours of emergency illumination when mains power is lost. UK Building Regulations typically require a minimum of 3 hours for emergency lighting in most commercial premises.
What is the viewing distance?
The sign is visible from up to 24 metres in clear conditions with normal ambient light levels. This makes it suitable for medium to large corridors, open-plan offices and retail spaces where exit signs need to be seen from a distance.
Can it be mounted on both walls and ceilings?
Yes. The Duceri can be surface-mounted to either walls or ceilings using the fixing points on the rear of the polycarbonate housing. The up arrow legend indicates that the exit route continues upwards or forward from the sign position.
