Description
The Duceri is a 14W LED emergency bulkhead fitted with a microwave motion sensor and IP65-rated polycarbonate housing, delivering 1207 lumens at 5500K in mains-powered mode. The fitting operates as a standard sensor-controlled bulkhead in normal use, and automatically switches to emergency mode when mains power is lost, maintaining illumination from an internal battery.
Designed for wall or ceiling mounting in communal corridors, staircases, car parks, industrial storage areas and external covered zones requiring both motion-controlled lighting and emergency illumination, the Duceri combines two functions in a single fitting. The microwave sensor detects movement through a 160° arc with adjustable sensitivity from 1-10 metres, lux threshold from 0-30 lux (allowing it to activate only in low-light conditions), and duration from 6 seconds to 30 minutes after the last detected movement.
The white polycarbonate housing measures 330 x 330 x 110mm and weighs 2.16kg when fitted. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor covered locations, unheated warehouses, damp commercial kitchens and underground car parks. The 5500K colour temperature gives a cool daylight-white output that maintains visibility for safe movement through functional spaces.
The fitting can be configured as maintained (lamp permanently energised in normal use, sensor controlling on/off) or non-maintained (lamp only energised during mains failure). This configuration is set during installation and depends on the application — maintained mode is typically used where the fitting provides primary lighting, while non-maintained mode suits locations with separate general lighting that only need emergency illumination during power outages.

Frequently Asked
What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained mode?
In maintained mode the LED runs continuously when mains power is available (with the sensor controlling on/off behaviour), and switches to battery during power loss. In non-maintained mode the LED only operates during mains failure, drawing on the battery. The mode is set during installation and depends on whether the bulkhead provides primary lighting or functions purely as emergency backup.
How does the microwave sensor differ from a PIR?
Microwave sensors emit radio waves and detect changes in the reflected pattern when movement occurs. They can sense through thin walls, glass and lightweight partitions, and are less affected by temperature changes than PIR sensors, making them more reliable in cold stores, outdoor covered areas and other temperature-variable environments.
Can the sensor settings be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The lux threshold (0-30 lux), duration (6 seconds to 30 minutes) and sensitivity (1-10 metres) are adjustable via controls accessible when the cover is removed. These settings allow the fitting to be tuned to the specific environment after installation.
What does the IP65 rating mean in practice?
IP65 means the fitting is fully protected against dust and can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction. It is suitable for outdoor covered locations (canopies, covered walkways), damp internal areas (commercial kitchens, washdown zones) and unheated spaces (warehouses, agricultural buildings), but not for direct rain exposure or submersion.
