Description

The Chawton is a 402mm picture light with a matt black metal shade and adjustable knuckle joints that allow the light bar to be angled towards the surface of a painting, photograph or mirror. The fitting houses two E14 bulbs (sold separately) inside a horizontal bar that projects 186mm from the wall, placing the light source forward of the frame to reduce glare and direct illumination onto the artwork surface.

Designed for placement above framed artwork in living rooms, hallways, galleries and dining rooms, the Chawton mounts directly to the wall on a rectangular backplate and requires mains wiring behind the fitting. The adjustable knuckle joints between the backplate and the shade allow the light bar to be tilted after installation to suit different frame sizes and wall heights. The 402mm width suits artwork between 600-900mm wide, with the light spread providing even illumination across the frame without harsh hotspots.

The matt black powder-coated metal finish absorbs ambient light during the day, keeping the fitting visually recessive when not in use, and pairs comfortably with contemporary, industrial and traditional interiors where black ironwork or metalwork is already present. The 40W maximum rating per E14 socket allows flexibility in choosing bulb brightness, with most users pairing the fitting with 4-6W warm white LED candle bulbs at 2700K to avoid overpowering the artwork.
