Description
The Chawton is a 652mm picture light in a dark bronze finish with twin E14 candle bulb fittings and adjustable knuckle joints that allow the light bar to tilt and direct illumination down onto artwork, mirrors or framed prints. The fitting mounts on a rectangular backplate fixed to the wall above the frame, with the light bar projecting 186mm forward when positioned horizontally.
Designed for artwork, mirrors and large framed prints where even illumination across the width is needed, the Chawton suits frames 700-900mm wide and works in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and gallery spaces. The knuckle joints between the backplate and the light bar allow the angle to be adjusted after installation to match the height of the frame and the wall angle, directing light evenly across the surface without glare or hotspots.
The dark bronze finish is a warm, antiqued metal tone with subtle brown undertones, pairing well with traditional frames, gilt mirrors and period interiors without overpowering the artwork itself. The twin E14 fittings accept candle-style bulbs up to 40W each, allowing the use of decorative filament bulbs or warm-white LEDs depending on the ambience needed. The metal construction and backplate give the fitting stability when mounted on plasterboard or masonry walls.

Frequently Asked
What size artwork does this suit?
The 652mm width suits frames 700-900mm wide. The adjustable knuckle joints allow the light bar to tilt and direct illumination evenly across the frame, so the fitting works with slightly smaller or larger frames depending on the wall height and projection angle.
What bulbs does it take?
The fitting has two E14 (small Edison screw) candle sockets, each rated for bulbs up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for a soft, gallery-style illumination.
Can the light angle be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The knuckle joints between the backplate and the light bar allow the angle to be adjusted after the backplate is fixed to the wall, so the light can be directed to suit the height of the frame and the wall position.
Does it work on mirrors as well as artwork?
Yes. The fitting is commonly used above mirrors, especially in hallways and bedrooms, where it provides illumination across the mirror surface without glare. The dark bronze finish pairs well with traditional and antiqued mirror frames.
