Description
The Cambridge is a 369mm flush ceiling light with three E14 candle bulbs housed within a clear ribbed glass bowl, capped with a burnished brass frame and beaded edge detail. The ribbed glass creates vertical refractive lines that break up direct glare from the bulbs while allowing full light output into the room, making the fitting suitable for hallways, landings, bedrooms and dining rooms where ceiling height is limited.
Designed for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m or where a pendant would hang too low, the flush mount sits just 315mm below the ceiling rose, clearing doorways and movement paths. The three-bulb configuration delivers approximately 360° light distribution, covering a floor area of 12-16m² depending on bulb choice and ceiling colour. The burnished brass finish shows a deeper, warmer gold tone than polished brass, with subtle tonal variation that reduces fingerprint visibility and pairs comfortably with oak, walnut and warm-painted interiors.
The glass bowl is held within a solid brass casting with turned detailing at the base and a beaded trim around the ceiling plate, characteristic of Hinkley's New England-influenced collections. The burnished finish is applied to cast brass components rather than plated steel, so the colour sits within the metal rather than on its surface. Each of the three E14 sockets accepts candle bulbs up to 40W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose filament-style LEDs for a traditional look or frosted LEDs for diffused ambient light.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Cambridge takes three E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 2700K-3000K, either clear filament style for visible bulbs or frosted for diffused light.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The 315mm projection from ceiling to base makes this a good choice for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m, hallways, and any space where a pendant would hang too low or obstruct movement.
What's the difference between burnished brass and polished brass?
Burnished brass has a deeper, warmer gold tone with subtle tonal variation and a low-sheen finish. Polished brass is brighter, more reflective, and closer to a mirror finish. Burnished brass shows fewer fingerprints and pairs more easily with traditional and warm-toned interiors.
What room size does it suit?
With three 40W-equivalent LED bulbs, the Cambridge provides enough ambient light for rooms up to 12-16m² (roughly 3.5m x 4m). Larger rooms may need additional task lighting or a second fitting.
