Description
The Beacon Hill is a 584mm outdoor wall lantern with two E14 candle bulb fittings behind heavily-seeded clear glass panels, set in a Museum Black aluminium frame. The frame follows a traditional English lantern silhouette, with a tapered hood, stepped neck detail and a loop-style hanging bracket at the top, even though this is a wall-fixed version rather than a true hanging piece.
Designed for porches, front doors, garage entrances and garden walls where IP44-rated protection is needed against rain and dust ingress, the lantern projects 200mm from the wall and spreads 198mm wide. The seeded glass diffuses light from the two bulbs (sold separately) into a warm ambient glow rather than hard-edged beams, making the fixture visible from a distance without glare. The IP44 rating allows installation in exposed positions where rain strikes at an angle but not in areas of standing water or direct upward spray.
The Museum Black finish is a low-sheen powder-coated aluminium that resists corrosion in coastal and wet climates better than steel or iron. The seeded glass texture shows water droplets and condensation less obviously than clear glass, and the stepped detailing on the hood and neck gives the lantern visual weight without bulk. Each E14 fitting accepts up to 40W, giving flexibility to choose filament-style LED bulbs for a period look or cool-white LEDs for higher functional output.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Beacon Hill can be installed on walls exposed to rain, but should not be positioned where standing water collects or where it would be submerged or hit by upward spray from a hose.
What bulbs does it take?
The lantern takes 2 x E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED filament candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for a period look with low running costs.
Is the glass replaceable if damaged?
The seeded glass panels are set into the aluminium frame. Replacement parts can be ordered through Hinkley's UK distributor network. Contact us for spare parts availability and fitting guidance.
Can it be used in coastal areas?
Yes. The Museum Black finish is powder-coated aluminium which resists salt corrosion better than steel or iron. Regular rinsing with fresh water during winter months will extend the finish life in coastal installations.
