Description
The Baton Rouge is a 762mm outdoor wall lantern with a walnut-finish cast aluminium frame, scrollwork backplate, and a four-sided gold-tinted glass enclosure housing four E14 candle bulbs. The lantern's vertical proportions, domed top with finial detail, and curved arm mounting give it a formal European appearance suited to Georgian, Victorian and period-style properties.
Designed for installation on external walls flanking front doors, garage entrances or covered porches, the Baton Rouge carries an IP44 rating for weather resistance against rain and splashing. The 457mm projection from the wall places the lantern body well forward of the mounting surface, casting light downward onto steps or pathways and forward across entryways. The scrollwork detail on the backplate and arm adds decorative interest when viewed from the side during daylight hours.
The gold lustre tint in the glass softens the output from the four E14 bulbs, reducing glare and adding warmth to the light colour compared to clear glass. The walnut finish is a dark bronze tone with golden undertones that highlight the relief detail in the cast metalwork. Each of the four glass panels is held within a metalwork frame decorated with vertical ribbing and scalloped borders, creating shadows and depth when the lantern is lit.
The fitting accepts E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 60W each, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or traditional candle-style filament bulbs depending on preference for light temperature and energy use. The three-year manufacturer guarantee covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal outdoor use.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashing from any direction. It can be installed in exposed positions on external walls, under eaves, or in covered porches where it may be subject to rain but not direct water jets or submersion.
What bulbs does it take and are they included?
The Baton Rouge takes four E14 small Edison screw bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional look with low running costs.
How is it mounted to the wall?
The scrollwork backplate fixes to a standard outdoor electrical box or directly to masonry using wall plugs and screws. The 457mm projection means the lantern body sits well forward of the wall, so installation on flat rendered or brick surfaces works best. The wiring connections are made inside the backplate before the lantern body is attached.
Is the walnut finish suitable for coastal locations?
The walnut finish is a powder-coated cast aluminium designed for general outdoor use in the UK climate. In coastal locations with salt spray exposure, periodic cleaning with fresh water helps maintain the finish. Feiss does not specify marine-grade certification, so very exposed coastal sites may benefit from additional protective treatments or more frequent maintenance.
