Description

The Balance is a table lamp built around a counterweight design, with a matt black circular base supporting a polished nickel arm that extends horizontally to suspend a white fabric drum shade. The shade hangs from the arm via a short polished nickel stem, with the weight of the shade balanced against the base to create the cantilevered effect. An E27 bulb fitting sits inside the shade (bulb sold separately).

Designed for desks, bedside tables and console tables where directed light is needed without a tall vertical stem getting in the way, the Balance positions the shade approximately 400mm from the base centre, allowing it to sit over the edge of a desk or bedside table without the base occupying prime surface space. The white fabric shade diffuses light evenly in all directions while the white laminate lining inside the shade reflects more light downward and outward than an unlined fabric would.

The matt black finish on the base and the polished nickel on the arm and stem create a two-tone metal contrast that pairs with both monochrome and warm-toned interiors. The polished nickel develops a natural patina over time if left unpolished, softening the reflective finish. The circular base provides stability on flat surfaces without needing to be bolted down, and the 1.8m cable (approximate) reaches most nearby wall sockets without an extension lead.
