Description

The Hinkley Astrid is a 508mm geometric cage chandelier built around an icosahedron framework in matte bronze, with a contrasting gold inner cluster holding three E14 candle bulbs. The outer cage forms an open lattice of metal struts meeting at twenty vertices, while the inner three-arm chandelier appears to float at the centre, wired from below through the central suspension rod.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Astrid provides decorative rather than task lighting. The 508mm frame width suits spaces 3-4m across without dominating smaller rooms or disappearing in larger ones. The adjustable drop allows the chandelier to hang between 763mm and 3770mm on installation, giving flexibility to position it 700-900mm above a dining table or centred in a double-height hall. The chain and cable are concealed within the suspension rod and fit standard UK ceiling roses.

The two-tone finish creates visual depth by separating the structural cage from the functional light cluster — the matte bronze outer frame sits back visually while the warmer gold inner arms catch and reflect light from the bulbs. The geometric cage casts complex shadow patterns onto surrounding walls and ceilings when lit, particularly effective in spaces with plain wall finishes. What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 763mm means the chandelier works in standard 2.4m ceiling rooms if hung centrally, but suits 2.7m ceilings or higher more comfortably. For dining table installation, allow 700-900mm clearance between the table surface and the bottom of the fixture, which typically requires ceiling heights of 2.6m or above.

Can the drop be adjusted after installation?

No. The drop is set during installation by cutting the suspension rod and adjusting the cable length inside it. Once installed, the chandelier hangs at a fixed height. If you need to change the drop later, the fitting must be taken down and the rod re-cut.

How is the geometric frame cleaned?

Switch off at the mains before cleaning. Use a dry microfibre cloth or soft brush to remove dust from the metal struts and vertices. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable on the metal, but avoid soaking the electrical components inside the gold cluster and allow the fitting to dry fully before switching back on.
