Description

The Artisan is a 54mm diameter surface-mounted downlight with a cylindrical matte gold aluminium body and a decorative knurled texture covering the outer surface. The downlight takes a single GU10 bulb (sold separately) and sits 108mm proud of the ceiling once installed, with the lamp recessed inside the cylinder so only the light output is visible, not the bulb itself.

Designed for ceiling installation in kitchens, hallways, dressing areas and retail spaces where recessed downlights cannot be fitted due to shallow ceiling voids or concrete slab construction, the Artisan provides directed downward light without cutting into the ceiling structure. The fixed head directs light straight down in a concentrated beam, making it suitable for task lighting over worktops, in walk-in wardrobes, or as accent lighting over displays. Multiple units can be spaced at 1-1.5m intervals to provide general illumination across a room.

The matte gold finish is applied to aluminium, giving the fitting a warm metallic tone that works with both contemporary and classical interiors. The knurled texture pattern on the outer surface adds visual detail and softens reflections compared to a smooth polished finish. The inner surface of the cylinder is dark-toned to minimise glare and keep focus on the light output rather than the fitting itself. The Artisan takes a single GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for general task lighting, or 4000K for kitchen worktop areas where cooler light is preferred.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means this downlight is not protected against moisture ingress and must be installed in dry indoor locations only. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher rated fittings in zones 1 and 2.

Is the light direction adjustable?

No. This is a fixed downlight — the head does not tilt or rotate. Light is directed straight down from the ceiling in a concentrated beam. For adjustable surface-mounted fittings, search for 'surface spotlight' or 'adjustable downlight' in the Niori catalogue.

How is it fitted?

The Artisan surface-mounts directly to the ceiling with screws through a circular base plate. The base plate sits flush against the ceiling and the cylinder extends 108mm below it. Standard mains wiring connects through the base plate before the cylinder body is attached.
