Description

The Knightsbridge TPS28WOEMHF is a 285mm square emergency bulkhead with a white polycarbonate base, opal diffuser and an integrated high-frequency electronic ballast. Supplied complete with a 2D 28W 4-pin fluorescent lamp at 3500K, the fitting provides maintained or non-maintained emergency operation with a 3-hour battery backup, switching to emergency power automatically when mains supply is interrupted.

Designed for commercial corridors, stairwells, communal areas and fire escape routes, the bulkhead carries IP65 ingress protection, making it suitable for damp indoor environments including plant rooms, loading bays and covered external walkways. The opal diffuser spreads light evenly across the fitting footprint without harsh glare spots, while the high-frequency ballast eliminates visible flicker during normal operation.

The 285mm square footprint and 80mm projection fit standard ceiling spacing for commercial emergency lighting, and the Class I construction requires earthed installation to a suitable mounting surface. The emergency function can be configured as maintained (lamp on during normal operation and emergency), non-maintained (lamp on only during emergency), or switched (lamp controlled by wall switch during normal operation, forced on during emergency), giving flexibility depending on the application and building regulations.

The white polycarbonate base resists impact and UV degradation better than ABS alternatives, and the IP65 seal between base and diffuser prevents dust and moisture ingress without requiring additional gaskets. Replacement lamps are available separately under product code 2D28W4P when the original lamp reaches end of life, typically after 8,000-10,000 hours of use.

Maintained mode keeps the lamp on during normal mains operation and switches to battery backup during power failure. Non-maintained mode keeps the lamp off during normal operation and only illuminates on battery when mains power is lost.
