Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way toggle switch controls four independent lighting circuits from a single brushed chrome faceplate, with each toggle supporting up to 10 amps. The 2-way configuration allows each circuit to be operated from two separate switch positions, making it suitable for hallways, staircases, and rooms with multiple entry points where dual control is needed.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and uses a 4.3mm ultra flat cover plate made from 201 stainless steel with a brushed chrome finish. The slim profile projects just 22.7mm from the wall once fitted, sitting flatter than standard screwed faceplates. An integral gasket behind the plate provides IP20-rated protection against dust ingress and incidental contact with moisture.

The brushed chrome finish shows a directional grain pattern that diffuses reflections under both natural and artificial light, pairing cleanly with stainless steel appliances, chrome door furniture and contemporary interiors. The four toggles are arranged in two pairs with defined spacing between each switch, reducing accidental operation when reaching for a specific control. The 148.5mm x 87.5mm faceplate covers a standard UK 2-gang mounting box footprint.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way mean?

2-way switching allows each of the four lighting circuits to be controlled from two different switch positions. For example, a hallway light can be switched on from one end and off from the other. This requires compatible 2-way wiring and a second switch at the remote location.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The ultra flat design reduces the projection from the wall to 22.7mm once fitted, making it suitable for shallow cavity walls and plasterboard partitions.

What is the maximum load per gang?

Each toggle is rated at 10AX, which supports lighting loads up to 2,300W per circuit at 230V. This is sufficient for most domestic and commercial lighting installations, including multi-bulb chandeliers and LED downlight arrays.

Can the faceplate be removed for redecorating?

Yes. The brushed chrome faceplate is fixed with screws to the metal mounting frame. It can be removed for painting around the switch and refitted once decoration is complete. The integral gasket remains attached to the plate.
