Description

The Mercury UK to EU travel adaptor converts a standard UK 3-pin plug to fit European Schuko sockets while adding one USB-A and one USB-C charging port on the front face. The adaptor accepts any UK plug rated up to 13A and outputs mains power through the rear Schuko pins, allowing a UK appliance to run on European 230V mains. The USB ports provide simultaneous device charging without needing a separate wall charger.

Designed for European travel from the UK, the adaptor suits hotel rooms, rental apartments and co-working spaces across the EU where only Schuko sockets are available. The dual USB output allows charging of a phone and tablet at the same time as running a laptop or hairdryer through the pass-through socket. Both USB ports support fast PD charging protocols, with each port capable of delivering up to 20W when used individually, or a combined 15W when both are in use simultaneously.

The white polycarbonate housing measures 82x52x90mm and weighs 102g, fitting into a toiletries bag or coat pocket without adding bulk. The adaptor conforms to BS 8546, BS EN 62368-1 and BS EN 62680-1-1, meaning it meets UK and EU safety standards for travel adaptors and USB charging. The brass earth pin on the Schuko side provides grounding where the building wiring supports it, though not all EU buildings wire earth to Schuko sockets.

Frequently Asked

Can I use this adaptor with high-power appliances?

The adaptor is rated to 13A on 230V mains, which covers most travel appliances including hairdryers, laptops and phone chargers. However, some high-wattage appliances designed for UK use may draw more than European socket circuits safely handle — check the appliance wattage and local circuit rating before plugging in.

Does it work in all European countries?

The adaptor fits Schuko (Type F) sockets, which are standard across Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, Greece, and many other EU countries. It does not fit French CEE 7/5 sockets (which have an earth pin in the socket rather than clips), Swiss Type J, Italian Type L, or UK sockets. Check the socket type at your destination before relying on this adaptor.

Can I charge two devices at full speed simultaneously?

Each USB port can deliver up to 20W when used alone, but the combined output is limited to 15W when both ports are in use at the same time. If you plug in two devices, the adaptor will distribute power between them, which may reduce charging speed compared to using a single port.

Does the adaptor convert voltage?

No. The adaptor only changes the physical plug shape — it does not convert voltage. UK and EU mains are both 230V, so most modern UK appliances work on EU mains without issue. If you have an appliance rated for 110V only (common in North America), you would need a separate voltage converter.
