Description

The Duracell Hi-Speed Charger is a compact 4-bay NiMH battery charger supplied with two AA and two AAA rechargeable batteries. The charger operates on UK mains power and delivers a 45-minute charge time for a pair of batteries in adjacent bays, using intelligent pair charging that monitors each channel independently to prevent overcharging.

Designed for home use where AA and AAA batteries power remote controls, wireless mice, gaming controllers, torches and children's toys, the charger handles mixed-size loads — you can charge two AAs in one pair of bays and two AAAs in the other simultaneously. LED indicators above each bay show charging status in real time, shifting from red during charge to green when complete. The built-in auto-shutoff cuts power to each bay when the battery reaches full capacity, preventing heat buildup and extending the usable life of rechargeable cells.

The charger measures 106mm wide by 70mm deep by 231mm tall when stood upright, occupying approximately the same footprint as a smartphone when laid flat on a kitchen worktop or desk. The included batteries are standard Duracell NiMH rechargeables rated at 1300mAh for AAs and 750mAh for AAAs, both rechargeable up to 100 times. The charger accepts any NiMH AA or AAA cells from any manufacturer, not just Duracell-branded ones.

Frequently Asked

How long does it take to charge the batteries?

The hi-speed charging cycle completes in approximately 45 minutes for a pair of batteries in adjacent bays. Charging time depends on the capacity and initial charge state of the cells being charged.

Can I charge just one battery at a time?

No. The charger uses intelligent pair charging, so batteries must be loaded in pairs — either two in the left-hand bays or two in the right-hand bays. You can charge two AAs on one side and two AAAs on the other simultaneously.

Does it work with other brands of rechargeable batteries?

Yes. The charger accepts any standard NiMH AA or AAA rechargeable batteries from any manufacturer. It does not charge alkaline, lithium or non-rechargeable cells.

What does the auto-shutoff do?

The auto-shutoff detects when each pair of batteries reaches full capacity and cuts power to those bays, preventing overcharging that can reduce battery lifespan and generate heat. The LED indicator turns green when auto-shutoff has activated.
