The sides are straight and the whole body is hammered into shallow dimpled facets, with a plain band left smooth at the rim. The colour runs deepest at the rim and thins toward the base, so every glass carries its own gradient and no two are the same depth of blue.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 9cm and 300ml these are short tumblers. They take water, juice or a spirit over ice, and the dimpled wall gives something to hold onto when the outside of the glass is wet. Held against the light, the hammering reads as a scatter of small bright facets across the blue. Waste glass is collected, crushed and melted down before it is blown or put into moulds, and the hammered surface is worked with traditional tools.
