The sides are straight and the whole body is hammered, dimpled all over in shallow facets, with a smooth plain band left at the rim and a flat base. The glass carries the faint green cast that recycled glass gives, and it shows most where the wall thickens toward the bottom.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 9cm and 325ml these are short tumblers rather than highballs. They take water, juice or a spirit over ice, and the dimpled wall gives something to hold on to when the outside of the glass is wet. The hammering breaks up whatever sits behind the glass, so an empty tumbler reads as textured rather than as clear.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected, crushed and melted down before it is blown or put into moulds, and the hammered surface is worked with traditional tools.
