The whole surface is hammered: shallow dimples run across the body and up the neck, deeper and more irregular low down where the glass is thickest. There is no handle and no pulled spout, so it is held by the neck and poured from the rim whichever way round it is picked up.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt holds 1150ml, which is about four tumblers, so it goes round a table of four without a refill. The narrow neck sits in one hand even when the jug is full, and at 25cm tall it stands above the glasses on a laid table rather than among them. Filled with water, the dimpling reads quite differently than it does through the empty glass above it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe glass is recycled stock, melted down from collected and washed waste glass and then blown by hand. The hammering is worked into the surface with traditional tools rather than moulded in, and the faint green cast where the glass runs thick is the recycled material showing through.
