Each stands 13.5cm and measures 10cm across the bowl, which is shallow and open rather than deep. The hammered surface begins a little below the rim and carries down to the point where the bowl draws in to the stem, leaving the lip smooth. The stem is narrow and tapered and opens into a stepped foot. The green is at its strongest in the stem and the foot, where the glass is thickest, and thins almost to clear at the rim. Each holds 175ml.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 13.5cm the coupes stand low enough not to break up a laid table, and the 175ml bowl is a measure rather than a brimful. The shallow shape carries a cocktail as readily as champagne. They are foodsafe. Against bare wood the green holds rather than disappearing into the grain.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEvery coupe is made from recycled glass, cleaned and crushed and melted down before a maker blows it by hand, and the hammering is worked into the bowl afterwards with traditional tools.
