An opal glass egg, drawn in slightly at the top and full at the bottom, cut all over with a fine net of shallow diamonds that runs from the shoulder down to the base. The cutting is light enough that the glass keeps its smooth outline and the pattern shows only as pale shading across the white. A flat black cap sits over the top of the glass and carries a short black stem and a plain black flex. The bottom of the egg is left open. The glass is thick and warm and hides the lamp completely. It measures 25cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
