value-e27-8w-globe-bulb-80mm-2200k-806lm-gold
E27 Globe G80 LED Bulb 8W 2200K - Gold

Description

The glass here is tinted a soft gold, so the light it throws is amber and low rather than bright and white. It is a globe of 80mm across with an E27 screw cap, standing a little taller than it is wide once the cap is counted, and the round shape keeps the light spreading evenly all the way round. Drawing 8W, it puts out a useful amount for its size, and the 2200K colour sits right at the candlelit end of warm white. There is no dimming on this one, so a plain switch is what it wants.

We reach for lamps like this where the bulb itself is on show: an open pendant over a table, a bare flex cluster in a stairwell, a caged wall light, or a run of them above a bar shelf. In a hallway, a snug or a bedroom the amber cast is flattering and easy on the eye late in the evening, though it is deliberately gentle, so for close work at a desk we would put something cooler and brighter alongside it. It suits anyone chasing the look of old café and pub lighting, and the price makes it sensible where several are needed at once.

The envelope is glass with the gold cast running through the tone of it, blown to a full sphere and finished at a standard screw cap. Cleaning wants nothing more than a dry duster over the glass once the lamp has been switched off and left to cool; if fingermarks show, a barely damp cloth on the glass alone will lift them, and solvents are best kept well away as they can dull the surface. It carries a five year warranty. We stock it as our value choice in this shape, and it looks better used in numbers, stepped down a stairwell or lined up along a beam, than singly.

Specification

Colour

Gold

Weight

0.10KG

Diameter

80mm

Height

118mm

Materials Used

Glass, Metal

Lamp Cap

E27

Colour Temperature

2200K Extra Warm White (±5%)

Number of Switching Cycles

100000

Conventional Lamp Equiv.

60W (±5%)

Shape of Lamp

Globe G80

Beam Angle

360°

System Flux

806lm (±5%)

Ta

-20° to +40°C

Total Power Consumption

8W (±5%)

Input Voltage

220-240V~50/60Hz

Dimmable

No

Average Life

15000hrs

Warranty

5yrs

UKCA/CE

Yes

Country of Origin

China

Frequently Asked

How bright is it?

It gives 806 lumens, which is roughly what people expect from a 60W tungsten lamp, though the deep amber tone makes it read softer than that figure suggests.

Can I use it on a dimmer?

No. It is non-dimmable and should be run from an ordinary switch.
